TWO PERSONS ARRESTED, BOOKED FOR ASSAULT & KIDNAP: Sardar Police on 11/09/2014 arrested two persons for assaulting and kidnapping a 22 yrs old woman yesterday from Namnang. As per the report received, on 11/09/2014 at around 12:30 pm, the victim, who was working in a cosmetic shop at Namnang was forcefully dragged by the duo inside a vehicle bearing registration No. SK01T1288 and took her to Indira By-Pass area. The beat patrol duty officers of Indira By-Pass area who heard her screaming inside the vehicle followed the vehicle and rescued the victim from Gandhay Jhora, Indira By-Pass. The accused were identified as (1) Binay Thapa, aged 22 yrs, r/o Mirik, Darjeeling, a/p Sichey and (2) Driver Chonam Lepcha, aged 22 yrs, r/o Namthang, Namchi, a/p Development Area, Gangtok. A case u/s 365/354/34 IPC has been registered against the accused.
