Taiwan the gem of the Orient. Shu Lin Kou Air Station, was a small Air Force communication base and There was a detachment of ASA personnel and a detachment of Navy personnel also. I will explain about the base late i am doing a story now. what I want to know is that the Air Force hated us and we hated the Air Force. The Navy was with us. Great guys. Our motto was “Once a day, every day, Stick it to a Airman1″ And Oh how we did! Now I can tell you the story. There is more stories. Now if offends anyone good! If offends officers good! Most of us passed the OCS test. 80% of officers that took our test , failed. Here is the difference They assign officers to ASA. We are ASA. Now read that over again and you might get it! if you read it twice it gives you more pride. Meloe, The Airman and the German Merchant Marine It was a slightly chilly March night back in 68. Everyone was scattered, so a Navy Squid that I knew went down to the Prince club to bust on the Airman and their hogs (I am pretty sure that it was the Prince club cause I used to spit at the Chinese girls once in awhile there.) When we walked in ,we went to the left side of the bar. The bar was in the middle and there were about 4 Giant German Merchant Marine guys singing Panzerlied and stomping their feet. https://youtube/watch?v=8JDkdc246QQ (The song from the picture the battle of the Bulge, where the soldiers were stomping their feet and sing that song). and in the back end of the bar, there were about 8 or 9 Airmen kissing and cooing their hogs (Chinese girls). So a drink or two later Meloe looked at the squid and said “Airman in the back and Nazis singing on the left. the guys won’t believe me. I gotta fix this!” So the bartender had a load of plastic records with all different colors and if you gave her a couple of nt (Taiwanese money) they would play a request for you. So I searched and searched and lo and behold I found the record that I wanted. I gave it her and she played and about the third verse, the Germans stopped singing and stomping their feet. the Airmen were still laughing and cooing. The Germans started staring with very mean looks mind you at the Airman. You have to understand these guys were really large with beards and low brows. Scary guys! Did you ever see an Airman go through a plate glass window? Horrifying! Did you ever see a bunch of Airmen flying without planes? That night it was scientifically possible. Did you know that some Airman squeal for their lives instead of plead for them as they bounced off the walls! Well the Squid and Meloe were on the left side of the bar so the Germans could not get at them. So Meloe said to the Squid ducking a beer bottle ” You know it is getting very violent in here, so I think that we should leave!” and They went out the door. Oh I forgot! I bet that you are wondering what song Meloe played? Here youtube/watch?v=JrPTcrFD3SM And as The Navy Squid and Meloe walked away in the chilly night getting little thrills at the sound of an Airmen’s head smashing in to the counter of the bar and the melodic screaming of the Chinese hogs and the sound of the SP police sirens and the candlelight flicker of the yellow lights for police cars. Meloe turns to the Squid and says, “I think the guys will believe me now!” True Story
