Take responsibility for your govt: Suu Kyi Aung San Suu Kyi, chairperson of the National League for Democracy (NLD), visited her Kawhmu constituency on Friday for the golden anniversary of the townships existence and met students at her Daw Khin Kyi catering academy. People should try to be outstanding enough so they can sculpt the countrys fate and manage the government, she said at the ceremony. The worst government was the one that disgusted the people, a little better was the one that citizens feared and the best administration was one that voters did not notice, she added. It is because the people themselves should form the government. They should hold the governing power in their hands and sculpt their countrys fate, she explained. Every country needs a government to rule. If the people have enough capacity to manage that power, the government will run unnoticed. I want the people of Kawhmu to be that wise. The rule of law was pivotal, as without justice, the people could not feel secure. Most of Myanmar, including Kawhmu, was underdeveloped, she said, adding that natural resources were not essential for development, with many wealthy countries only having limited natural resources. The peoples spirit is the main driving force of the country. She visited her academy, which is partly foreign-funded, to see the progress of the trainees, who study for free. Professionals teach vocational courses in hospitality and catering with foreign experts sharing their experience during weeklong visits. The school opened in October to 96 students, aged between 18 and 25, with the second batch due in August 2015. She said vocational training was as important to society as academic studies and her Daw Khin Kyi Foundation stood out as a pilot project. A proportion of places are guaranteed for Kawhmu residents.
