Taken from Discussions On Youth By President Daisaku Ikeda Continue With A Fighting Spirit You must respect your life. You will be unhappy if you allow yourselves to be swayed y societys prejudices, passing trends and contradictions.Never forget to live true to your convictions. President Toda emphatically stated, the true evaluation of our lives is determined by how happy we are in our final years. Happiness in life does not depend on how well things go in your youth. And no matter how many mistakes you make, you always have a second chance. Be ambitious and keep striving toward the future.if you dont do well in elementary school ,try harder in junior high.If you dont do well in junior high school,do your best in high school. And if youre not happy with your achievements in high school, give it your all in university. If thats not to your satisfaction, theres still hope after graduation,as you challenge yourself as active members of society. If you experience setbacks along the way, continue with a fighting spirit into your forties, fifties, sixties and seventies. Moreover ,from the profound viewpoint of Nichiren Buddhism ,if you dont accomplish everything you set out to in this lifetime, you can continue to fight in the next lifetime and so on throughout eternity. There is no more lofty aspiration than the Buddhist Law. Even if you think youre hopeless and incapable,I know youre not .I have not the slightest doubt that each of you has a mission.Though others may disparage you, please know that I respect you,I believe in you.No matter what circumstances you now face,I have absolute confidence that a wonderful future awaits you. Each time you fall down, just get back up.If you can pick yourself up,you can move forward. You are young. Now is the time for challenge and construction .Now is the time to begin some endeavor.
