Taking a trip to Europe, or anyplace where history is revealed, is a cathartic and informative adventure.. We found the influence of the Hapsburgs in Bohemia, and the burning of a religious hero called Jan Huss in Prague. Melk revealed the most lavish Abby in history, and little villages along the Danube were each one a tale of centuries of civilization and events. Vienna or Wein Austria was the center of music and lively atmosphere and it captivated my attention with a Miro exhibition and a concert of music from Austria including Mozart of course. Tall long standing churches of Romanesque, Gothic or Baroque styles, have stories of how they were built and the sacrifices of the people for an edifice of pride.Undulating statues and gargoyles surround the churches, and bass relief of scenes in the past or Bible tales revealed. St George slaying of the dragon was a theme we found in Prague often .. History unfolds in layers of centuries as we go from site to site, Kings, Emperors, Bishops, Arch bishops, Dukes, and common men, fill the pages of our past. The Holy Roman Empire, encompasses so much of central and East Europe that the tales of its height and demise were interesting and helped us to see the ways of the past. Ruins of long ago, teach us how the people lived, who prospered, who was suppressed, and who dominated their lives. Each areas unique myths, customs, language, beliefs, and history, help to form the character of the people today Literary figures play a part in this adventure, Franz Kafka told tales of Prague and the existentialist style was birthed in his writings. Herman Hesse often presented his tales in settings of German or Austrian realms. Architecture explored, art gazed at, feelings recalled, scents and visions, stored in the memories that are implemented through the years by photos... The local food, the people, and customs, the beer, the wine, the atmosphere, all captured in the mind of the aware tourist and adventure seeking lover of life... Go forward and learn...
