Taking cue from famous saying of Hazrat Sheikh Noor Ud Din Wali(Ra) that Ann Poshe Teli Yeli Wan Poshe, it was civil administration and police Friday planting saplings with a vision of making Srinagar greener for a prosperous future. While for the District Development Commissioner Farooq Ahmed Shah the day started with plantation of Chinar saplings near Hajj House on the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad highway, the Inspector General of Police AG Mir through this plantation had a “think green” lesson for schoolchildren. CIVIL ADMIN The afforestation campaign was kickstarted in Srinagar by plantation of 20 Chinar saplings on National Highway Bemina and Hajj House by the DDC. The drive was organized by Floriculture department. Director Floriculture Kashmir, Sunil Mishri and other officers of the department were present on the occasion. Addressing the function, the DDC said “5000 Chinar saplings will be planted at various places of the City for ensuring greenery all around the City.” On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner was informed that around 20,000 saplings of Conifer and Deodar saplings will be planted in other areas of Srinagar City. POLICE PUBLIC SCHOOL An official handout said 39th World Arbor Day was observed at Police Public School Bemina organized by Social Forestry department. Inspector General of Police Kashmir, AG Mir was the Chief Guest and Chief Conservator of Forests Kashmir, Nisar Ahmad Darzi was guest of honour on the occasion. The officers of J&K Social Forestry department were present on the occasion. On the occasion, the speakers highlighted the significance of afforestation, the project taken up by J&K Social Forestry department in each district and Tehsils of Kashmir division.
