Tales From The Farebian Nights Once upon a time, there lived a young prince in a large palace with his mother. For his eighteenth birthday, his adoring mother gave him three gifts, a glass full of a poison called power, a robot and an old old lamp called the Congress. ‘This lamp has magic powers, my son, it contains a genie called the government. If you rub the lamp, the genie will appear and grant you three wishes’. The prince was very excited to hear this. He rubbed the lamp and the genie appeared. How may I serve you, O master?” the genie asked. “Tear this ordinance that you had prepared two days ago. It should be torn and thrown away, the prince commanded. Within a second the genie gave a command that revoked the ordinance. The prince was delighted. When the the genie asked again - And what is your second wish Master?” “Increase the LPG subsidy from nine to 12 cylinders”, commanded the prince. Within minutes the genie increased the LPG subsidy. The genie asked again, And what is your last wish O Master”? “Make me as popular as the Jhadu wallah and the Chai wallah next door ”, said the prince, stating his secret, most cherished wish. “Er, I perform magic sir, not MIRACLES!”, said the genie before disappearing into the lamp for ever! © Shefali Vaidya
