Talk about deja vu. Photographic artist Colleen Rintoul and I go - TopicsExpress

Talk about deja vu. Photographic artist Colleen Rintoul and I go way back. I first met Colleen in the Brant Camera Club, where she served as secretary/treasurer. I was the newly minted Clinic Chairman, responsible for the clubs tri-annual photographic competitions. Later, when Bob Bembridge, then program director of the Woodstock Camera Club, appointed me to the brand new position of Judge Chair of the WCC, Colleen and her husband Randy Young decided to join the WCC as well, making the bi-weekly drive from Brantford to share in the cordial give-&-take of photographic ideas and experiences. It was there, in the Woodstock Camera Club, where I awarded Colleen a Judge Chairs Pick for her transcendent, moody image Train Station at 4 AM. Even back then, a photographic vision was emerging in Colleens work that was ever-so-enchanting and wholly original. So it came as no surprise to me to discover that she had been invited to join the prestigious Oxford Photographic Arts Guild, where she remains a member. Well. That was then and this is now. And now I am a member artist of the Art Gallery of Lambeth. And my curators, Vivian Tserotas and Brenda Morris, granted me the honour of procuring a juror for our 2014 Summer Sizzler show. Enter award-winning artist Suzette Terry, who kindly drove all the way down to Lambeth from her Meaford, Ontario home to jury our show. And Suzette picked up on Colleens inimitable photographic style, singling her out for an Honourable Mention for her expertly-composed and ingeniously-captioned Walk Before You Fly. This video clip showcases Suzette presenting Colleen with her award and explaining her rationale behind her selection. And Suzette does so with her trademark affability and grace. I smiled as I recorded this video at the Summer Sizzler opening reception. It brought back fond memories of my own Judge Chairs Pick award presentation to Colleen, oh so many moons ago. Please remember to click on the HD icon for optimum high-definition viewing. Our Summer Sizzler show runs until July 26th, so do swing by. The show is chock-full of artworks that are as imaginative as they are diverse. The Art Gallery of Lambeth is located at 2454 Main Street in downtown Lambeth. Or phone (519) 652-5556.
