Talking blues is a form of folk music and country music. It is characterized by rhythmic speech or near-speech where the melody is free, but the rhythm is strict. John Greenway and Woody Guthrie are exponents of this music form. Bob Dylan and Mickie Newberry often use talking phrases in song. From my homestate of Florida the most prominent artist of this genre was Gamble Rogers and Bob Patterson. Ronny Elliot is a Florida Troubadour that has written hundreds of songs in the taking blues format that decribes cities, people, and memories.
