Talks between the ruling and opposition parties break down; KMT’s proposal “unachievable” #Taiwan #TaiwanProtest News Translation Taiwan Voice 2014/03/27 Legislative Yuan Speaker Wang Jing-pyng called together the KMT and DPP to negotiate the current situation over the Trade Pact. The KMT proposed to have Wang chair the committee session for review of the Trade Pact and demand the DPP not boycott the session. Citizens who are against the trade pact have been occupying the legislative chamber since March, 18th. Wang called for a negotiation this morning on the 10th day of occupation to get the talks rolling. The DPP caucus whip Ker Jian-Ming said in an interview after the negotiation that the 4 conditions mentioned by the KMT this morning were unachievable and that the KMT caucus still does not show sincerity toward negotiations. As such, the DPP is asking for the Trade Pact to be returned to the Committee and that President Ma should respond to the people. NOTE: The KMTs four conditions were: 1. Return to a line by line review 2. Wang Jing-pyng serve as chair 3. The session can be held outside of the Legislative Yuan 4. DPP has to sign to agree to not boycott
