Taraba 2015: Chief David Sabo Kente, and other Defects to SDP Disenchanted by alleged imposition of unpopular candidates some chieftains of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba state were reported to have defected to the newly registered Social Democratic Party (SDP),including the former governor of the state Rev. Jolly T. Nyame and Chief David Sabo Kente among hundred others, with street jubilation in Jalingo this evening. It could be recalled that the over 400 state PDP ad-hoc delegates that were snubbed in Abuja, had threatened to seek redress in court over alleged disenfranchisement to vote in primaries. Reports say that as the news of the defection filtered, disenchanted PDP members took to major roads in Jalingo, the state capital, chanting anti-PDP slogans, ‘’ PDP is died and bury. “We are burying PDP, with our mentors, this evening. No internal democracy.” “Let them come and campaign for the imposed candidate. We salute Rev. Jolly, Kente Gamalia and all those that saw the reason to dump the monster called PDP,’’ said Yohanna Bello and Danladi Bawa who were among the protesters.” Reports had earlier indicate that one of the governorship aspirant under the PDP, Chief David Sabo Kente alias DSK has decamped to Social Democratic Party (SDP) to run for the governorship election in the state, ‘’this followed his denial to participate in the state PDP delegates primaries that was smuggled to Abuja, instead of Jalingo, that was hijacked by certain groups,’’ said a reliable source closed to Kente. #TarabaFacts confirmed the recent development for DSKs aide and Investigations further revealed that under the new arrangement, Kente is picking Engr Ahmad Yusuf Gamalia as his running mate, while the former governor of the state Rev. Jolly T. Nyame is to run the senatorial ticket of the northern senatorial zone. “Similarly, a serving senator Sen. Abubakar Tutare who was denied out rightly from PDP has also joined SDP to contest for the central senatorial zone, while Retired Army General Bawuka to run for the southern senatorial zone,” said sources. Also under this arrangement, several members of the state House of Assembly, who were allegedly denied the opportunity to participate in the primaries are also joining the SDP to contest,as well as other members of the National Assembly from the state. Impeccable sources closed to Kente, revealed that the new arrangement was perfected in Abuja on Sunday, just as PDP national secretariat was reported to have directed a serving Senator, Sen. Emmanuel Bwacha, Alh.Uba Maigari and former Senator ,Joel Danlami Ikenya to go and plea with Kente’s group not to defect, but all to no avail, ‘’they have turn down the request,” said sources.
