Tax levies will be on the ballots in 59 Minnesota school districts on Election Day. Voters in 39 districts will decide if theyre willing to pay increased property taxes to help fund operating expenses like teacher salaries. More than half of operating levies on ballots this year are renewals and will not increase property taxes. Another type of levy will increase taxes more than 20 other districts if voters say yes. Bond and capital levies would pay for new technology and buildings in many districts. Those levy votes are being driven by needed expansion due to all-day kindergarten classes. The 48 bond levies on ballots this year is the highest number in more than a decade, according to MSBA. More on First News.
