Makes a lowly little radio personality like yours truly wish I had that much money to promote myself for Bea-isms on Air. In fact, I was about to call Karen Deigl to find out what an ad of that size might run me. Whoops, I better not open that can of worms because I think the cat’s out of the bag on that issue. Read the article in Vero Beach Newsweekly titled GoLine advertising campaign comes under fire by Ian Love. Seems that Karen Deigl, the director of the Senior Resources Association took the liberty to barter with Rhett Palmer on the bus line ad for his plugs on his radio show for the SRA. Such a deal, however, the accountant who did an audit with the GoLine Bus Line says, wait a minute. During this recent audit, the plan to wrap advertising around GoLine buses came under fire from the auditors and county officials for mismanaging funds and trading advertising for on air plugs. Before I go any further let’s get a better understanding of who the players are. Karen Deigl, Joe Baird’s girlfriend, becomes the director of the Senior Resource Association (SRA) after director Arlene Fletcher was let go during a scandal regarding her paying out of SRA funds for a roof repair for her mother’s house. Let me remind you that at the time Arlene Fletcher held this position her husband Craig Fletcher was the Mayor of Vero Beach. Fletcher now holds an elected position as a Vero Beach Councilman. Apparently, Arlene Fletcher was fired because she allegedly used $11,000 plus of SRA money to repair her mother’s roof on a house co-owned by Fletcher after damage was done to the roof by a hurricane.
