Teach me and I will be quiet. Job 6:24a The last two Mondays, Ive found myself in two different dentists chairs for three hours at a time. Both dentists were extremely kind and encouraging. Both are Christians who are strong in their faith. And both told me great stories to which I wanted to interject. However, with the drill, water, suction, mirror, and separated jammed in my mouth, I couldnt speak. Oh how I wanted to respond - telling them one of my stories, or probing deeper about their stories...yet I was held captive. So I tried so hard to remember all the things I wanted to say to them when they finished...but I forgot. I finally relaxed and realize I wasnt going to get a turn to talk - so I listened. I really listened. What I did hear was very clear. Oh how I miss so much of life because of the noise (and so much of that noise comes out of this mouth). In this busy season, may we listen...really listen to what people are saying ... And what they are NOT saying. Hopefully you wont need a dentist to help YOU learn this lesson. 😉😬😉
