Teachers should not tolerate mediocrity in their students in the - TopicsExpress

Teachers should not tolerate mediocrity in their students in the name of encouraging/inspiring them. Without telling them the truth about their mediocrity, they will never aspire beyond it. As Arthur Conan Doyle writes in The Valley of Fear, Mediocrity knows nothing higher than itself. Teachers should not normalise mediocrity. They should set a standard. That is how some of their students shall overcome their own mediocrity. But often, we have seen mediocrity triumph. Because teachers actually do not care. So, they keep the truth to themselves. Discuss it among themselves, while the mediocre continue to believe that they are small geniuses. If anyone seeks to tell this truth to them, this person shall, like Chris Jamis creative people be found either disagreeable or intimidating by the mediocrities. They shall resist. And if Merit is not a value, the truthful, honest person shall be isolated. But as with all truths, it soon dawns on everyone that indeed mediocrity is just that: mediocrity.
