Teachers, you win because your union is strong enough to force this government to bargain in good faith. Had this government thought that it could pull off another imposed settlement, it seems they’d have done so in a heartbeat. Do not underestimate the power that comes from the principles at stake here. Unions not only represent worker interests, but also bring democracy to the workplace. Teachers know the value of this, having fought for over a decade to defend their right to form and operate as a union. Torn up contracts and imposed settlements are not mere esoteric matters – because unions result in better working conditions, adequate compensation, and respect for workers. HELL YEAH!!!
