Team Elite Total max effort bench day to determine training maxes for setting up our peaking program. Joao Joe and Cortney Lyn, I dont have videos of your last successful attempts, or else theyd be on here. Courtney absolutely murdering her opener at 95lbs. Missed 115 and 120 purely because of form issues, not strength. Tj grinding out 335lbs. Just missed 340lbs 10min later. 365 will be yours this fall, no doubt. Brannon benching for only the second time since early May, due to shoulder/arm issues. Easy 405 and then a slow 420. HUGE shout out to Dr. Phil Afghani for the amazing work hes done on my elbows, shoulders, and scar tissue throughout my arm. Very little pain today. Message to the team: today was not the day that Court, Cort, and Joe were looking for. Much of that is my fault for not having worked with yall enough on bench to know better what to call for attempts, and to have had yalls form tightened up (Joe, yours is on point). Even with my failures as a leader, and yalls failures under the weight, we still got a good idea of where to set your training maxes for programming, and each of you got a chance to learn how to, or rather how not to, miss and then block it out and come back with a vengeance. Misses happen on test days. Misses happen (hopefully rarely) on training days. How we handle them and what we use that failure-energy for will help us all to be mentally strong both in, and out, of the gym. Who else wants Thursday to be here already?!
