Team Power Monkey Captain Dave Durante with a Theraband exercise: This exercise is meant to help build the shoulder stability muscles used in a proper ring support hold. A proper ring support has locked out elbows, externally rotated wrist/hand position, and shows clear separation between the straps and your arms. No resting of the forearms on the straps :) Wrap the Therabands around the uprights and get equal tension on both bands. Pull bands down by sides and repeat. After about 10 reps, complete small circles in both directions while the bands are in support position. Im using a Therband in this video. Its one of my favorite pieces of equipment. If you ever go to any gymnastics gym or competiton, you will see every gymnast with one of these. They are cheap $5-10, portable, and you can do tons of stuff with them. The also come in a variety of color coded thicknesses. My recommendation is that most athletes dont need to go beyond the blue band at this point. The higher tension bands (black, silver, gold) are too heavy for most people.
