Teams named for Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in LA By Alex Webbe The age-old sport of polo has attracted front page coverage once again with the return of the 2014 Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic at the Will Rogers State Park in Pacific Palisades, California. Hosted by Veuve Clicquot and professional polo player Nacho Figueras the event is expected to be a sellout once again. As game time fast approaches, Figueras released the names of the players and the teams. Everyone’s favorite polo player Nacho Figueras will be leading his Black Watch onto the field in Saturday’s charity match. He will be joined by Brazilian 7-goaler Rico Mansur and the father-son combination of Tom and T. J. Barrack. Playing for Veuve Clicquot are Bash Kazi, 6-goaler Maco Llambias, Diego Mendez and Patrick Uretz. A full day of music, entertainment, star-watching and fast-paced polo will be presented to a standing room only crowd of fans, spectators and casual onlookers as champagne is poured “pretty women” grace the sidelines. The fact that an exciting game of polo can take place just a stone’s throw from downtown LA is amazing enough, but through the generosity of those in attendance and a handful of sponsors, the upkeep of the historic Will Rogers State Park will preserve a legacy that once saw Rogers playing polo on his field with Walt Disney, Spencer Tracy and a myriad of other motion picture actors of his day.
