Teams of police officers will be carrying out extra patrols in an Aberdeenshire town this month to blitz youth disorder and provide extra reassurance for local residents throughout the Easter break. Police in Fraserburgh will be carrying out high-visibility patrols in the town centre and outlying areas in a bid to stamp out any anti-social behaviour, drug misuse and drinking on the streets. The first phase of action took place over the weekend of Friday 4 April to Sunday 6 April, with the next instalment planned for Friday 11 April through to Sunday 13 April, and from Friday 18 April to Sunday 20 April. Sergeant Sam Buchan, of Fraserburgh Community Policing Team, reiterated the message that action would be taken against any offenders and officers will continue to listen to local residents concerns. He added: The lighter nights can often draw people out later than normal and we will look to target problematic areas of the town which are seen as hot spots for youth disorder. We would like to reassure the local community that we will continue to do what we can to remain visible and our number one priority is to provide reassurance and safety. This operation includes divisional officers and special constables and highlights just what can be achieved when we deploy extra resources. Incidents that can normally take up a considerable amount of our time can be resolved within hours as we have the additional patrols in place to tackle them. This is part of a sustained effort as we will continue to work to ensure we are keeping people safe in their local communities, and are committed to achieving that within Fraserburgh and its outlying areas. If anybody has any concerns regarding criminality in their area they are urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if they wish to remain anonymous.
