Tears and anger of parents of the kids who studied in the Bangalore school silence cops, minister BANGALORE: Sir, I hope you understand a fathers concern... he broke down even before he could finish the sentence. Other men and women who were with him, too, couldnt hold it anymore -tears rolled down mothers faces and fathers tried to compose themselves, in vain. This was the anger and anxiety of around 25 parents who met primary and secondary education minister Kimmane Ratnakar at Vikasa Soudha on Monday afternoon. They were venting their concerns about their kids school, where a child was allegedly raped. Tense words were punctuated by angry silences in the conference room. As when the father of a young girl got up and said, I have a daughter in the same school. She once said she doesnt want to go to skating class. I thought she was trying to drop out. I forced her to go to the class again. I now fear it could be because the teacher had misbehaved. Could you please go through the videos in the laptop and check whether my childs pictures are there? The other silence was of top bureaucrats and Ratnakar, who looked around helplessly as men and women wept in fear for their childrens safety. The minister and officials tried everything to reassure and calm them. They are not of his activities. Well check again. But the parents were too disturbed. They were also worried about their kids future. We dont want the school to shut down. Our children enjoy going there. They keep asking us when they can get back. We want the management punished, they said. The school has been closed since July 17. Ratnakar said: The government has written to CISCE, to which the school is affiliated, recommending it to with draw recognition. Weve issued a show cause notice. At the same time, we assure you that the interest of the students and teachers will be taken care of. Criminal action against the school has started... but, it will not affect the students. The principal secretary will meet all the school staff on Tuesday . Well do a background check . before we take a decision.
