Technical Manager JOB TITLE Technical Manager Job location Cairo, Egypt DIVISION Engineering DEPARTMENT Architectural REPORTS TO Operation Manager POSITION OBJECTIVE This classification is designed to be used when hiring highly-skilled technical and professional individuals for specialized temporary projects. The Technical Expert classification is used only when there is no appropriate existing Classified Staff job classification. SUPERVISES As requested EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor of Science Degree in Architectural and member of professional body/bodies in Egypt and/or elsewhere. EXPERIENCE A minimum of 20 years progressive experience in all phases of Architectural engineering, design and construction contracts with, at least, 3 years in a managerial capacity. CONTACTS Contacts with all levels of Company, client representatives as requested by the Project Manager, and financial and professional groups. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES The following duty statements are illustrative of the essential functions of the job and do not include other non-essential or marginal duties that may be required. Serves as a technical expert representative across teams, clients, and the information technology industry. Offers technical support across practices in offering definition and positioning. Suggests alternative technical solutions to meet client requirements more efficiently, and/or with greater reusability, and / or longer life. Promotes and coordinates technical knowledge harvesting within the organization. Defines, communicates and enforces coding standards. Identifies reusable code required for our code library and ensures the high quality creation of the code. Manages multiple technical teams within budget and project schedule. Directs, organizes and controls the Architectural engineers and draftsmen to carry out all Architectural activities including; appraisal, design, and contract documentation of DMA projects. Verifies that all Architectural designs, drawings and documents are to current codes and standards and in accordance with DMA policies and standards. Checks the design criteria and basic designs of Architectural engineering works to obtain the maximum quality. Prepares and maintains the overall plan of work Architectural Department. Maintains records of work progress of the Architectural department and liaises with other DMA staff as required. Provides information and/or assistance to project groups as required on Architectural design matters. Keeps alert of current technology in Architectural design. Prepares training programs and trains the department staff to improve their performance in Architectural analyses and design. Participates in Architectural engineering societies, committees, conferences and programs to best reflect the DMA’s capabilities. Review and approve the technical quality of all work performed within the department. Ensure that all necessary inter- Architectural and other communications are being effectively accomplished at all levels. Review unusual or complex design problems and provide guidance for the solution either personally, by subordinate staff, or by outside consultants. . SCOPE OF INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS Contacts are with superiors, subordinates, and suppliers/vendors. Contacts require the ability to exercise a high degree of interpersonal skills to influence persons at all levels. Incumbent is accountable for the results of the contact.
