Tell about your whereabouts and experience 13 years ago today during the dastardly attack on the United States that dreadful day on 9/11. My wife called me at home that morning and told me to immediately turn on the TV and watched the news, because there was a terrible accident and a plane hit one of the twin towers in New York. I was seeing everything unfolding on TV when a second plane hit the other twin tower right before my eyes on live TV and I knew then this was not an accident. Later I learned that the Pentagon was also hit by another plane. I was scheduled to go into work at the White House on my usual time at 11:00 a.m. that morning and could not contact anyone there. Later that evening, my supervisor called me and instructed me to come into work the next day early morning and there are a lot of work for us to do; she told me what street I needed to go and to where I need to enter at. Washington, DC was a like a fortress with the streets around the White House blocked-off with uniformed fully-armed military, U.S. Secret Service, and DC Metro Police personnel. Into two weeks of work after 9/11, I worked and processed so many executive orders, and etc. It was an unforgettable experience for me, being at the White House during and after 9/11. I was given a Distinguished Service by President George W. Bush for my work at the White House during 9/11.
