Tell us it aint so Keith The Hartford Courant will buy Reminder Media Inc. of Vernon, which publishes 15 free weekly newspapers in north-central Connecticut, Courant Publisher Nancy Meyer said Tuesday. Meyer called it “a natural extension of our current portfolio.” Ken Hovland Jr., owner of ReminderMedia, said he expects that the Courant “will maintain and grow what we have worked to build over the last 60 years.” No financial details were disclosed. The transaction should be completed in April. Reminder Media also publishes annual community directories, a monthly real estate publication, and a weekly auto sales publication. The Courant is owned by Tribune Co. of Chicago, which is in the process of selling its newspaper division. Tribune also owns 23 TV stations, including Hartford Fox affiliate WTIC-TV-61 and WCCT-TV20.
