After dropping out of acting school, Tarantino honed his craft by paying obsessive attention to movies. Working at a video store during the 1980s helped, too. “When people ask me if I went to film school, I tell them, ‘No, I went to films,’” he once remarked. “When you have tunnel vision, when you have very limited interests, you know, you better pick up a lot. I wasn’t interested in school. I wasn’t interested in sports. I was only interested in movies.”
