Ten reasons you are strickened with world cup fever: 1. Your eye bag gets bigger and even the NTUC auntie retailer points you to the cucumber section to get one huge slice. 2. You cant help but look at all the news on the world cup and even bought your first ST papers for the first time after 4 years for the latest news. You only buy them every four years anyway. 3. You set the alarm religiously before you sleep and wake up the whole family every night at odd hours. They came to the conclusion that madness has striken you but only once every four years. 4. You take whatever leave you have - annual leave, childcare leave, paternity leave, no - pay leave so you can have freedom to watch the world cup matches in peace. Your boss decided to grant you the leave or else you will end up taking medical leave for insomnia anyway. 5. You stock up all kinds of coffee and chips to prepare for the matches every night until you almost walk like a zombie the next day. By then, you decided the $1 kopi at the coffee shop is still the best. 6. You learn to sleep in the day and wake up at night and found that your system works best at night - maybe you can get a 12 midnight to 8am night job afterall to beat the human traffic at the MRT. 7. You shouted GOALLLLL very loudly during the first few matches but the shout gets more muffled as your body gets weaker by the day as you struggle through some boring matches. Sometimes, you woke up for some matches only to fall asleep at the couch and realised that you slept through the whole game! 8. You wish there is a rest day during the world cup so you can sleep in the whole night uninterrupted. You are glad that on some nights, matches are played simultaneously to avoid kelong and you can literally kill two birds with one stone now. 9. You bought your favourite world cup team jersey and wore them every night while watching and cursed your luck when England went out so early in the first round. Your next tee shirt belongs to Italy... 10. You decided to save up money to watch the next world cup live abroad but thats on your wish list for the past five world cup! My prediction: Uruguay to win the 2014 world cup in a Netherlands vz Uruguay final!
