Ten years ago, I was hired at Nintendo of America. By the time I reached the final interview phase someone told me that they had received over 300 resumes for the position and I was like Wow, I feel like I won a pageant here or something. I am honored to have even made it this far. Then, against all good judgment, they hired me. Last night was Nintendos Celebration of Service event, where employees who reach milestone anniversaries with the company are recognized. Im ten years this year, along with Chiko Bird, and some other friends reached *fifteen* years - Lark Hawk and Joel Simon and Nate Bihldorff. Before Nintendo I never pictured myself working anywhere for more than three years, really. In the past, I was kind of a mercenary and I would just follow the money. I am not sure what happened here, where ten years went. But I think that there is genuinely something special about the people I work with here, that they truly love the products we make, and our customers, that makes people stay for ten years, twenty years - there was even someone celebrating thirty years! Amazing. Congrats to all my friends celebrating milestones, and, I guess, to me.
