#Tennessee House passes $32B budget without once-promised raises for teachers and state workers. The budget approved by the House largely sticks to the plans put forward by Gov. Bill Haslam. His original proposal would have given teachers 2 percent raises and other state workers 1 percent increases, but last week Haslam pulled that idea back. He said the money was needed to address a growing hole in budget. Did Haslam make the right decision? Where else do you think he could have cut in order to give teachers and state workers raises?
