Tesla Motors announced that theyre giving away all their patents for free to other car makers, their goal is to encourage other carmakers to create electric cars. Time will tell if these patents will really propel other car makers to create mainstream electric cars, but if it does, giving away those patents might have been the most significant thing one person has done to reduce earths carbon emissions, which cars are responsible to 30%(!) of it. teslamotors/blog/all-our-patent-are-belong-you
