Testament: shortly after retiring from a school system in New Jersey my mom got hot by a car in 2007 and was originally marked for dead. After 20 plus surgeries we had to let go most of her right leg. She chose to get up and move towards a rather sophisticated prosthetic leg given to special circumstances. I want yall to see what my mom has done since just this past Wednesday with one leg. Just about 60 bags of leaves and she is still outside right now. She uses this as therapy and even does it without her prosthetic leg when most of us hate the thought of yard work Or are too cute or sophisticated for it. She spends a great deal of time at my home. It used to be because it was a great place for her to come to grips with her new life. These past two years she has been here a lot to really help jumpstart me, realizing that those two full years in the hospital and rehab facilities and driving to new Jersey each week, once or twice, changed my life and my emphasis and had me in more of a traumatic state fore.to now rise out of. On this day of American heroes I honor mother. I am able to-do things in thought of in the gym in terms stamina and perseverance and steadfastness. Each time anything gets tough I think back on how somehow before blacking out on the street she kept yelling for someone to called and gave out my work and cell numbers, knowing that God favors me such that I could go into negotiations for her life. I think of how she went through nearly 30 pints of blood in the first two evenings and hung in there while mostly unconscious for nearly two weeks yet chose to rise. Look at her. Look at her work. Now look at yourself. Can you do better? Amen.
