Tevis Update. Its not gonna happen this year for Fury and I in 2014. Fury has been prepped and sharpened to a razors edge. He was ready to compete and better past years performances. Last Saturday after our last conditioning ride he was backed out of the trailer, took a bad step and flipped over backward on our blacktop driveway. He hit hard and has not been 100% since. I knew when he hit that Tevis would not happen but I remained hopeful. Yes, I could take my backup Richly Kept but my gut tells me she needs another year before competing on the big stage. Im disappointed but have to say that its the process and the journey that keep me coming back to these type of events. Its the time alone with a special horses, the look in your horses eye when the conditioning plan is done, its trying new things and tweaking the small things that worked last time. I believe that things happen for a reason and I look forward to starting the process again in 2015.
