Belfort,MD,ND,PhD Texas health officials have placed the family of the first person to be diagnosed with Ebola in the United States under quarantine in their apartment. Officials said they were concerned about being able to monitor the familys temperatures twice daily. Previously, health officials had simply requested that the family stay in their home. Because of a variety of issues, we felt that this was needed, Dr. David Lakey, commissioner of the Texas Department of State Health Services, said in a news conference. A crew was expected to come to the familys apartment on Thursday to clean and remove garbage bags of soiled sheets and clothing, household trash, and mattresses. Health officials are also contacting and evaluating nearly 100 people who may have had direct or indirect contact with the patient.
