Texas Time Trial 12- Hour Riders, We are less than two weeks away from The 2014 Texas Time Trials. Here is some updated information along with some of the standard reminders from years past. Prorated Lap – Technically this is not a pro-rated lap, but that’s what we have been calling it. Technically it is a sudden death lap. It is a lap that you start before the end of your 12 hour race, but you do not complete until after the 12 hours have expired. The person with the most laps wins, if two people have the same amount of laps the person who finished their last lap first wins. You will not be able to start a pro-rated lap after 5:00 pm. You must complete the entire lap to get credit for it. This last “Pro-Rated” lap often decides the winner of the race, so if in doubt and you want to place as high as possible, ride the pro-rated lap. Parking – Feel free to use the Park Parking lot for packet pick up, but do not leave your car parked in the Park Parking lot while you are racing, these spaces are reserved for the Sprint Racers that will be arriving after you start your race. There will be racers on Van Zandt so please exit the park to the North and turn right on Hwy 67 then make your first right and park east of America’s Best Value Hotel. You are welcome to set up in a Pit Area along the race course just be very careful of racers. Lights and Reflective Gear – It will be dark when you start and for most if not all of your first lap. Grady with “Trail LED” will be onsite with light rentals if you do not have any. You will need lights to safely make your way around the course on your first lap in the dark. Your safety is our concern and your obligation; don’t take chances, please wear a reflective vest and ankle bands. You are required to have a working headlight and tail light. It would be good if you have ridden the course and know your way around it. Chip Timing – You will be issued a chip with instruction on how to fasten it to your seat post. If you will be riding more than one bike, get special instructions at packet pick up on how to transfer the chip; we do not have an extra for each rider. Feel free to check the chip as you line up for the mandatory pre-race meeting at 5:45am, it should chirp as you cross in front of the antenna. We ask that you slow down when crossing in front of the antennas, slower is safer and allows for less of a risk for your chip not to get read. If you cross during the race and you do not hear a chirp there’s a problem, try again, but look behind you first. Race Numbers and Ribbon Colors – All 12 hr racers will have a Blue Ribbon attached to the left side of their helmet. Additionally 12 hr team racers will also have a pink ribbon. You will be given a 100 series Race Number / Chip to attach to your bike. You will need to memorize your race number and call it out each time you pass the start/finish line for your manual backup timing.
