Texting with a former student of mine. I taught him ESL (English as a second language). Hes from Mexico and hes without paperwork, i.e. illegal. He wants a better life and he misses his family in Mexico. He loves the United States, he works hard, and he stays out of trouble. He has also worked hard to learn English and speaks it fairly fluently. He doesnt know what to do...and doesnt have the money to pay an immigration lawyer to help get things in order. I wish I could help him. His name is Alejandro and Im very proud of him. Im also thankful that he stays in touch with me three years after I last taught him.
