Thailand continue winning run in SEA Juniors Volleyball Championship Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, August 3, 2014 - Thailand, which outclassed New Zealand in straight sets the previous day, captured their successive two wins on Sunday after they thrashed Myanmar B in hard-fought three sets 25-20 25-17 25-23 in the 18th South East Asian (SEA) Junior Mens and Womens Volleyball Championship. Only two junior mens encounters were contested on Sunday in the single round-robin competition at the Wunna Theikti Indoor Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw. The first match turned out to be a close battle when hosts Myanmar A sealed a dramatic 3-2 (25-18 25-23 17-25 11-25 15-9) victory over New Zealand in a 96-minute clash. Zaw Myo led Myanmar A with massive 25 points including 19 kills and six stuff blocks, while Fullerton Bradley scored a match-high 18 points for the Kiwis. The second tussle saw Thailand enjoy their two wins a row following the straight-set 25-20 25-17 25-23 win over Myanmar B in one hour. Chakkrit Chandahuadong topscored with 15 points including 10 deadly spikes, but hefty Wutthichai Suksala, who stands 220cm tall and weighs 110kg, fared better in the spiking tactics with 13 points. Toe Min Maung scored the highest 13 points for the host side. With the straight two wins, Thailand moved to the top of the five-team standing with six points. Myanmar B had three points from one win against one loss to come in second place. Myanmar A finished third with two points from one win in the match against New Zealand which ended in 3-2 in favour of the host team. New Zealand came in fourth place with one point from two losses including one which ended 3-2 in favour of Myanmar B, while Vietnam still had no point to come in fifth place overall. On Monday, Myanmar play Vietnam in the womens junior event, while the mens junior division sees Myanmar A take on Vietnam and New Zealand challenge Myanmar B. The first match starts at 12.00pm.
