Thank God all went well apart from a few incidents here and there. JUBILEE & CORD When i first bought my son a toy car, he got excited but it could not last a week, everything was in pieces because of his intuitive mindset. Nowadays after having grown, he admires, washes and keeps it well. We have two boys in the name of CORD and JUBILEE, they just got a toy called the New Constitution.....its only God who rescue it. Our main symptom as a Country since independence has been resource distribution, period. We moved three steps up when we promulgated the constitution in 2011 because each and every part of this country has at least felt the impact of devolution, i.e Machakos County can put up A-class road without depending on the president. Both divide are misinterpreting the Constitution to suit their needs, Here is the best of CORD brigade, burnt mid-night oil to come and present to Kenyans substandard work. In brackets is my personal analysis. CORD. The Goals set by CORD yesterday are NOT achievable, measurable and realistic. 1. Convene an all inclusive National Referendum...(all-inclusive is too general, are we going to have a 42-Members Committee, all-tribe represented? Which formula are we gonna use? for instance, it will be constitutionally unfair to lump minorities together) 2.Mandate the Committee. ( This resolution is dependent on Resolution 1 therefore irrelevant) 3. Immediate disbandment of IEBC. ( When you put excessive salt in your meal, you only have two alternatives, throw it away or accept and eat it. The Cordessians should lead by example by resigning en-mass to fault IEBC. This ressolution makes sense though due process has to be followed.) 4. Launch OKOA KENYA, a peoples movement to defend the constitution and protect the gains made in democratic governance ...( a misplaced initiative, they are already enjoying the gains courtesy of the new constitution by holding meetings with reckless talk) 5. Jubilee administration to address cost of living...(Why tell them, they promised Kenyans to do that, if they are not, wait till 2017 and use that to your advantage to win the elections.) 6. Immediate end to corruption, wasteful spending and reckless borrowing. ( Ending corruption is a process, you can not compare this with an electric switch. Nyani haouni kundule, we all know Kenyans are corrupt) 7. KDF withdrawal. (Prevention is better than cure, we are better off winding Al-shabaab cells in Somalia than give them freedom to organize themselves as we come back home to wait and respond to their attacks) 8. Jubilee to deal with insecurity and and hold accountable senior officers for the deaths. ( This makes sense) 9. Reject attempts by the Executive through parliament to bastardize TJRC report. (It will just remain as a resolution forever) 10. Jubilee to handle underlying issues to to with land injustices. (this is an issue that needs to be tackled in a consultative forum with the affected locals stakeholders included.) 11. Publication of appointments. ( Not achievable, instead of CORD asking jubilee to do this, it should take it and get statistics then publish, whats so difficult here?) 12. 40% of revenue to go to the counties ( Good idea that can easily be achieved through parliament.) 13. National audit of Jubilee government. ( this can be done during the election year, we dont expect them to be perfect) WHAT I THOUGHT CORD SHOULD HAVE DONE. (One Strong Goal) Come up with a comprehensive formula like the one used in distribution of Devolution Funds with an objective of making sure appointments are fair both in Government, public and private companies. Let the past mistakes guide us but not define us. Now this can be subjected to a Referendum so that it is included in the Constitution and Kenyans will live happily.
