Thank You Jeffrey !! !!, I owe you this wonderful/narcissistic opportunity to brag about my favorite books *Cracks knuckles* Lets start... Though I like to believe that every book that I have read so far , including the Chacha Choudary comics do have some influence of some kind on me. Okay may be except twilight. So the 10 books that influenced me the most are- 1. Louisa May Alcott’s Little Woman- I am not ashamed of saying this – though most people say that it’ s a “for girls” book, this is best book of my childhood years,. The book is full nice and friendly people and not one bad person. May be that’s why I like it. Also, the absence of father for the most part of story and how the girls coped with it seemed a little familiar to me. 2. An illustrated version of Mobydick-It had beautiful pictures. ^_^ 3. Jules Verne’s Around the World in 80 days- World travel, funny characters, his determination to win the bet and love , what’s not to like in this book? 4. Stephen hawking’s Brief history of time-People who write my boring course text books should take a leaf out of this Book (literally).Felt like a little Einstein while reading it and meticulously taking notes and collecting newspaper clippings relating to that. If only our textbooks were written like this. 5. Mark twain’s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn- I owe this one to my brother who brought home this book one day wanted to know the story but did not want to go through the painful process of reading it. Wish I had an awesome childhood like that. (This book made me the weirdo I am today) 6. Anne Franks Diary- No words…I hate how abruptly it ends. Nothing I say here would do justice to the greatness of this book. 7. Paulo Coelho’s Alchemist – Follow your dreams, take risks, work hard towards your goals. 8. Subimal Misra’s The Golden Statue of Gandhi from America- Set in post- independence era.. This was quite painful to read because for gruesome realities presented in a soul crunching way. (This book made me the anti-capitalist I am today) 9. Arundhati Roy’s God of Small Things-Issues like racism, casteism, dirty politics, and hypocrisy of a conservative family shown through the perspective of twins. (This book made me the feminist I am today.) “….they broke the Love Laws. That lay down who should be loved. And how. And how much” “To love. To be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and the vulgar disparity of life around you..” 10. Ruskin Bond’s Night Train at Deoli And Other Stories-Stories that almost make you feel like you are having very nice cup of coffee, curled up in some cozy corner of shivalik foothills.*nostalgia Now i get to pick my preys..*Cracks knuckles again* I nominate Raj Shekar Vedire ( :P ), Prachi Bawanthade, Ishan Gupta, Kishore Kumar Naidu, Abhijit Ghosh,Sumit DårkÅlchëmïst Yerram Raju Behara,Rakshit Jain, Gaurav Bhakt,Abhimanyu Gaur,Ankit Gupta,Deepti Sahoo :)
