Whilst we do not know when fossil fuels will end we do know that they will We can get a sense of the proximity of this by the growth in use of very expensive technologies, such as fracking and deep sea drilling, these are natural gas and oil related of course. Coal has been stated to be in relative abundance for around 200-300 years by coal industry optimists. In my mind we are facing challenges all around which indicate that we have to reduce our consumption, dramatically in places such as the USA. Apart from the running out of current energy based resources and minerals, we also have the increasing issues of polluting our atmosphere and environment, hence nuclear energy is no answer either. All of these these points have been stated over and over again by relatively conservative bodies such as the IPCC. As Gandhi said You must be the change you want to see in the world. It really is up to us; all of us, think of the children, the childrens children and their children; think of at least seven generation hence.
