Thank you Karen for the nomination to complete the ice bucket challenge! Here is my owed to raising awareness of ALS!! The ice water bucket challenge was created to initially raise awareness of a crippling disease. While its great that people are doing it to raise awareness of the disease itself, I dont believe that it educates society of what the disease actually is. People are using the challenge as a way out of educating themselves. By not completing the challenge, people are simply using the $100 dollar donation as a punishment. So heres my shot to raise actual awareness. ALS is a progressive, violent and unstoppable disease where the degeneration of motor neurons cause the body to ultimately lose complete function. This challenge has raised an incredible amount of money for the ALS association. However donations pour in as punishment for not dumping ice water on yourself. I am donating out of hope that my money will help find a cure for the disease that has taken and continues to take the lives of so many. I challenge Laura Sylke, Sam Lade, and Shana Gillen not to the ice water bucket challenge, but to raise awareness of the disease itself. Water and ice cubes dont quite feel like justice to all of the fallen for me.
