Thank you Obama care... Now the patients at our hematologist / oncologist practice will have to receive their treatments in an outpatient setting instead of the playroom in the clinic.... A room with windows, room for other family members, toys and constant interaction with other children and staff they know and trust. Now children will have their treatment time go from 30 minutes to 4 hours for Chemo. And they will be confined to a hospital bed in an individual cubical with no windows, no room for additional family except for one parent and no play time. Some how section 340b... Price regulations and Medicaid regulations on IV medications...now mandates where care can be given. And that our doctor can not make the decision about where to treat his patients. Yes, they are still getting the needed treatment, but argue the mandated setting to a small child. And the costs will more than double. No longer billing insurance for a regular office visit, now a bill for a day in out patient too.
