Thank you Rachel Hodson for the neigh nomination. I have been waiting for one of these. I have had many fantastic ponies and horses over my life and all are special in their own way. However it will come as no surprise to anyone that knows me that my horse of a lifetime is my beloved Doualago aka Dougal. Dougal arrived with me as a 10 year old ex racehorse #RoR who had won 15 hurdles and chases mainly under the coercion of the great AP. Very institutionalised and traumatised by his racing career he spent the first 2 years of his rehabilitation terrified. However, once he realised that carrying a human on his back could be fun we never looked back. He carried me round the PC Eventing Championships in 2003 as well as being one of the best tetrathlon horses of his era. He gave me a taste of riding round the big internationals including Chatsworth, Barbury and Gatcombe. He was a fantastic hunter and covered some of the biggest of the Quorn country. Most of all he was an absolute joker and always made us laugh. The kindest bravest horse that I have ever owned, his loss in January 2012 left a hole in my life that is still open.
