A reporter with all his companions That icon of the Belgian - TopicsExpress

A reporter with all his companions That icon of the Belgian comic strip, Tintin, finds himself back in the spotlight this year with a new stamp sheetlet. For this issue, Hergé’s most famous creation, who reached the respectable age of 85 on 10 January, is accompanied by some of his friends. It’s not the first time that Tintin has been given pride of place on a stamp. The ever-young reporter was actually featured on the very first Belgian stamp devoted to the comic strip, 25 years ago. The head-and-shoulders portraits of Tintin and his friends are an original take on one of the themes most prized by collectors. And they are the perfect complement to the existing Tintin issues. The vivid colours give these timeless characters a contemporary feel and freshness. If you know most of these characters, you’ll still be pleasantly surprised by what you find on the back of the sheetlet: a voucher giving you a discount on a ticket to the Hergé Museum in Louvain-la-Neuve. If you’ve not been yet, 2014 is the perfect time to visit! The modern building, which was completely designed in the spirit of the clear line so dear to the grandmaster of the comic strip, provides an excellent review of his work. It’s paradise for Tintinophiles and other fans of the bequiffed reporter!
