Thank you WCSI for the article: Columbus Police Investigate Smash and Grab Burglaries The Columbus Police Department is investigating a pair of phone store burglaries that occurred early Monday morning. CPD Public Information Officer Lt. Matt Myers says the first burglary occurred at 12:25 a.m. at the Verizon Wireless store on National Road. He says the thieves gained entry by busting out a glass window at the front of the store. Myers says the suspects were in the store for just over a minute, yet they were able to get away with multiple phones and other electronic devices. The next burglary occurred at 1:30 a.m. at the AT&T Store on Central Avenue. Entry at this location was made the same way as the Verizon hit, in that a large rock was believed to have been used to bust out the front window. Myers says that a number of phones and other equipment were taken from this store as well. Police are currently in the process of obtaining surveillance video from both locations for further investigation. Authorities are asking area residents to be on the lookout for anyone attempting to sell new cell phones and other electronic equipment at a reduced price. Myers says that if the price seems too good to be true, it probably is. Anyone with information about these burglaries is asked to contact Det. Sgt. Tom Foust at 376-2642. Information can be left anonymously.
