Thank you all for the texts, messages, and positive thoughts. Yes its been 20 years...and another 10 or 20 or 30 will go by and THIS day will always be sacred and never forgotten. I can cope and deal...and go through counseling or whatever...but the truth is.... I was 13 when I watched my father die...I watched him drown in an undertow...I mean really???? For whatever reason I felt something wasnt right that day when my good friend and I were playing in the ocean. For whatever reason I went to go look for my daddy...I couldnt find lifeguards...I couldnt find help. I WILL NOT forget looking into his eyes as another wave and another wave washed over him. I will not forget when he called out to me Jamei, help me. I will not forget him being caught between two waves and me thinking I would never see him again. I will not forget them having to bring him onto shore on a wave runner, him lying on the sandy shore with large amounts of water and froth foaming out of him. I will not forget the drive to the hospital for the doctor to tell my mom he was dead while handing her his wedding ring. I will not forget the long drive home thinking it was all a dream. I will not forget the week from his death until his burial bc he had to be flown all over the place before he made it home....And I will not forget the stages of grief I went through and sometimes still encounter...I will never ever forget this day nor the 13 years I had with my dad!!
