Thank you all for your support through the whole Viking Gyre Contest! Sergio Izquierdo from Guatemala dominated the competition. That is ok, because if you have been to Central America, you have seen that there is poor waste management. Plastic single use products have gained enormous popularity in that region so it is probably contributing quite a bit to ocean pollution. Either way, I have learned a lot in this process, about plastic pollution, and my role in its lifespan, but also about my interest in this subject. I intend to work towards getting onto a plastic pollution expedition some day, regardless of social media votes. So thank you for your support, your inspiration, and showing your own interest in reducing plastic pollution.
