Thank you everyone so much for your birthday wishes. I used to be - TopicsExpress

Thank you everyone so much for your birthday wishes. I used to be sarcastic about FB and birthdays, but I admit, it was really warming to see so many well wishes. Some other FB thoughts...Someone referred to FB as birth and death book the other day, and as I looked at my birthday wishes, I saw that a friend from high schools father had died (love to you Peter D. Posert)..I reflected that i had indeed not only heard about peoples parents death, but also my friend dear Ed Buchanans death was a facebook event, and I was moved to post a recording here of myself playing taps for him. (youtu.be/0pA9JZOibHQ).... And it was here that I read very moving obits by James David Jacobs about Pete Seeger and Lou Reed...I used to think it was a very impersonal place to talk about illness and death and an easy way to wish happy birthday when you normally wouldnt. But it was very nice indeed to hear from people, distant and near, some whom I havent heard from in a long while and its warming to know I passed through their radar...and my thoughts about some of those deaths were not at allsuperficial...and yes, it is a practical way to let people know about events... I have very mixed feelings about FB...It is strangely addictive/engaging and time consuming...it keeps me from practicing well...I glance at it and then half an hour is gone...on the other hand, I find out about great concerts that Phillip Greenlief and Peter Apfelbaum and the like post, last minute. I have attended to some fantastic shows that I wouldnt have otherwise known about. And people like Jeff Westergaard seem to scan endlessly and post cool things, like the guy that makes huge beautiful designs in the snow with his footprints...and who didnt love the video of the lion jumping into that guys arms... But, all in all, I find it is sapping me of focus. So I, like Ingrid Goods friend, am going to try 30 minutes a month. I havent been back on here in 2 weeks, since I read that, and Ive been happily more focused without it. Phillip, PeterBeth Custer, Todd Sickafoose, others in the land of music: please email me, regular old email...I want to know about performances, and I go to them! Other friends, Yes, I want to connect! but have to limit my time here....Noodle is still as cute as ever, meals are still delicious and creative, many new brews and products from the kitchen..e by and try some! and I will be back in a month for a glance...much love
