Thank you for adding me. My beloved Stirling Mallory Archer, a four year old black DSH, was diagnosed with Leukemia on Saturday. He showed most of the symptoms on Friday and was already weak the next morning when I rushed him to my Vet. She boosted his immune system with an injection and prescribed Roferon to administer daily for the rest of his life. I started with the immune booster meds immediately and finger fed him every four hours for the past two to three days to build up his strength. Fortunately this and the meds helped and he started eating on his own last night, albeit only a little. His bowel movements also returned to great relief. The Roferon has clearly helped, along with Stirling Archers fighting spirit and all the love he could handle. By yesterday he regained some of his strength and today he is almost back to his old self. He has even started to show interest in playing again. Call it a miracle if you please. I like to think it was the power of love. Either way, Im so thankful to have my best friend back for now:-) Interestingly, his coat started to look scruffy due to his lack of strength to groom himself. I continuously bathed him with a damp facecloth followed by lots of grooming. Now he looks and feels a whole lot better. I dont know what the future holds for us, but given this experience I will at least be at the ready when his symptoms return. Until then I hope a cure will be found.
