Thank you for the review Paolo T Pianosi MD Consultant, Dept. of Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine, Division of Pulmonology, Mayo Clinic Rochester There is not likely any ordeal more terrifying to a parent than their child experiencing a life-threatening illness. This can become a daily struggle for the parents of an extremely premature infant. With no past experience or road map to guide them, parents repeatedly face detours, catastrophes, and other delays on their long road home. Life with Grace is an attempt to provide a map of sorts for parents navigating these stormy seas. It tells the tale of, and lessons learned by, a courageous family faced with this gauntlet. A unique feature of the book is that the story doesn’t end with discharge from the NICU, when most of the drama ends. There are innumerable challenges providing home care to a technology-dependent child (for their very breath), and the book factually describes many of these without embellishment. It is this practical simplicity that makes the book an essential how-to manual for parents of a (micro-)preemie, and while I have used the term ordeal a few times, the ultimate message of the book is positive….and vital: be patient, be strong, and above all, put your faith in God.
