Thank you, thank you, to all forms of protection that got me safely home tonight. Might have to rethink the tire thing, though, as Im working 35 minutes (in perfect conditions) from home in rural Vermont. Might have to take that Snow Day thing more seriously too. Heading home in High 4-wheel drive already, going pretty slow down a curved hill, applied the brakes gently and started fish-tailing all over both lanes. Tried to correct; it only got worse. Traffic in both directions safely stopped and just watched the show. I gave up trying to correct, as the far side looked like a better landing anyway, and slowly did a full 360, ending up ass-first off the road headed the wrong way. No trees, no crunching metal, but my hood still projected into the road. After everyone drove on by and left me meditating in the dark alone, I thought, What the hell, might as well try. I put in Low 4 wheel drive, pulled up out of the ditch and kept on going. VERY VERY slowly. Home now, enjoying the 8 loads of wood I got in yesterday. Sorry to miss Dad, but a trip to the nursing home was beyond my skill set tonight. Sure is pretty out- that fairy land look! 6 inches so far, another 18 hours to go.
