Thank you to 100+ people who showed up to celebrate the life of my daughter Amanda Paterson-Miller and countless others from around the globe who had their own remembrances. From Alaska to Denmark and Florida to Sooke, BC, people who loved Amanda remembered a young beautiful women with a heart of gold and great strength. A child who was kind, generous, & warm who grew up to be a loving mother whod go to great lengths to protect her daughter. She was no Mother Teresa but she was often self-less and cared greatly about others especially those less fortunate. Amanda rarely spoke ill of others, consciously chose to see the better side, and would extend the benefit of the doubt. Malicious she was not and nasty rarely. She may have known she was loved, but struggled to believe it, or feel worthy of it. I do not understand why. But I take comfort in the belief that those who have passed over have their arms around her saying, Amanda look at how much you are loved. How deeply you are loved. And how you inspired people with strength as you struggled to overcome addiction. Over the past 10 days I have felt the love and support of so many people from different areas of her life, and could not have got through this without the love and support of my family and friends. There Id still a long road ahead, but I know I have SO much support, so thank you all. Taken from this earth, suddenly, and far too early, I know for a fact her biggest regret is not being here to watch her beautiful daughter grow up, finish school and participate in her life, as every mother want to do. In one Words of Remembrance, it was said We promise you Amanda that we will all be here for Schae in ways you would want to be. We promise you she will have no greater love or influence than the group here today. We promise you, you will always be her Mom guiding her from above. Before the service we heeded a suggestion to start a fund so Amanda can have a positive impact in Schaes future so that Amanda can be there to help if Schae wants to travel Europe when she graduates, needs a down payment on a car/house, towards higher education or a multitude of possible realities. There is comfort in trying to create a new normal even though there will be rocky roads ahead. There is a hole in my heart I will try fill with love and kindness. Rest in peace my dear sweet darling Amanda.
